South African Gaming Board Chief in Court

WHITE RIVER, South Africa – As reported by the South Africa News 24: "Axed Mpumalanga Gaming Board chief executive Barry Mashigo is scheduled to appear in the White River magistrate's court on fraud charges on Tuesday after allegedly masterminding a consultancy fee scam.

"The MGB board of directors has charged Mashigo for allegedly milking fake 'staff placement' commissions out of the parastatal by using a bogus personnel agency.

"…Mashigo's surprise dismissal in September 2003 came after a secretive five-month forensic investigation that included questions about his multimillion-rand mansion at the exclusive White River Country Club, apparent irregular appointment of temporary staff, as well as his travel and hotel expenses…"
