South African Businessman Bets on Indian Casino Venture

JOHANESBURG, South Africa – As reported by the Kerala Next: "A leading South African Indian businessman, working to set up a casino resort in India on the lines of the one at Las Vegas, is hoping his venture will get the green signal.

"Vivian Reddy, who has teamed up with partners in India to build the resort in Haryana, is optimistic that the new government, which took over in May this year, would allow the casino resort.

"… 'We want to create in India very much a Sun City-type that is in South Africa or even a Las Vegas-type facility, where the focus is on entertainment and not so much on the casino activities.'

"…'Our local partners in India are advising the current government of the benefits of casinos in terms of employment, the tax base and, most importantly, how we could use a casino to bring more tourism to India.

"'The indications are very positive at this stage though not as enthusiastic as the previous stage, but I believe we can find a middle road to accommodate the concerns.'…"
