Small Texas town selected to go to Vegas for free

8 December 2008

CRANSFILLS GAP, Texas -- As reported by News 8 Austin: "Cranfills Gap, Texas, population 358, is a place where cows graze happily in the pastures, and everybody knows everybody, but now they'll be known as the first-ever American town to take a vacation together.

"Courtesy of the bustling Las Vegas, Nevada, all Cranfills Gap citizens have to do is allow cameras to document their adventure. The video will be serve as the launch for a marketing campaign for Vegas in 2009, and it's all starring our fellow Texans.

"...'The Gap' as they call it was chosen from more than 125 small cities in the U.S. The Vegas crew decided it was the community most in need of some rest and relaxation.

"...Not every cowboy or cowgirl will be able to go on the trip, those who are too young, and those unable to get off work will have to stay behind.

"Still, almost half of the town is going, about 125 people. They'll be flying out of Waco on Saturday Dec. 13 and will vacation for five days..."
