Slots to dominate Indiana politics17 April 2007INDIANA – As reported by the Indiana Herald Bulletin: "State lawmakers have plenty of work to do before the end of Indiana's 115th legislative session on April 29. "More than 50 people gathered at Hoosier Park Monday as Madison County's four state legislators gave an overview of the session so far and a preview of the work to be done in the upcoming weeks. "…The debate over slot machine gaming at Indiana horse racing tracks will color much of the proceedings. Last week, House Bill 1835 went back to the House to enter conference committee hearings. "If approved, it would bring 1,500 slot machines to Hoosier Park in Anderson and Indiana Downs in Shelbyville. Under current language, however, each facility must pay a $400 million upfront licensing fee…" |
