Slots Supporters Say 'Save the Track'9 June 2004VANCOUVER, Canada -- As reported by the Vancouver Sun: ``Supporters of the Hastings Park racetrack will be rallying Tuesday evening at Vancouver city hall as it makes its latest move on the issue of slot machines there. ``City council will vote on whether to send the application for the addition of hundreds of slot machines at the track to public hearing. ``...People waving signs reading "Save the track" said the survival of the facility itself depends on bringing in more money from slot machines. ``But some who live in the neighbourhood are opposed to the idea, saying they fear increased traffic, crime and gambling addictions if slots are approved..." |
