Slot win at Connecticut casinos dips

NEW LONDON, Connecticut -- As reported by The New London Day: "Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun fared about the same last month, at least in regard to slot-machine 'win.'

"Mohegan Sun reported this morning that it won $61.8 million at its slots in June, 8.9 percent less than in June 2008. Foxwoods, including MGM Grand at Foxwoods, reported a slots win of $57.8 million for the month, a decline of 9.1 percent over the previous June.

"The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, which operates Mohegan Sun, contributed 25 percent of its win, or nearly $15.5 million, to the state Division of Special Revenue. Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises, which operates the Foxwoods casinos, paid the state $14.5 million.

"Both casinos reported their highest slot totals of the year in May, which had 31 days to June's 30. Mohegan Sun reported a May win of $69.9 million, a 7 percent year-over-year decline, while Foxwoods' May win was $62.3 million, 14.2 percent less than May 2008..."
