Slot Tournament Winner Gets Chance at Millions

BILOXI, Mississippi –As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald: "Kathy Peavy got to live out the fantasy of millions of gamblers Thursday when she got a free pull on nearly 900 slot machines for winning a Treasure Bay slot tournament last weekend.

"By mid-afternoon Thursday, Treasure Bay officials said Peavy had won "a couple of thousand dollars" and had played about half the machines. During her first hour gambling, Peavy played about 75 machines.

"Peavy said she planned to play every machine in the casino, even if it took her two days.

"…Peavy methodically worked her way across the Treasure Bay Casino slot floor, followed by her family and a group of casino employees.

"…She won the tournament, with a first prize of $8,895 and a chance to play every one of Treasure Bay's slot machines, except the statewide progressive machines. With nearly 900 slot machines in play, she had the potential to win $8 million.

"…Even though most of her attempts came up empty, she kept on making jokes and comments, based on each machine's name. 'Diamonds are a girl's best friend!' she said when she stopped to play the Double Diamonds slot machine…"
