Slot revenue increases at Pennsylvania casinos

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania -- As reported by The Press of Atlantic City: "Slot machine revenue in September increased 4 percent at the state's seven casinos that were open the same month last year, according to figures released Friday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. With two new casino open this year, total revenues were up 30 percent.

"The casinos generated $172 million compared to $133 million in September 2008, when seven casinos were in operation. Taxes in September, based on the 55 percent tax rate, were $95 million.

"Among casinos that were open the prior September, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse had the biggest increase, at 19 percent over last September. The Meadows Racetrack and Casino gained 9 percent and Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack revenue increased 7 percent.

"Mount Airy Casino and Resort had the biggest decline at -12 percent. Revenue at Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack was off 3 percent..."
