Slot revenue at Connecticut casino hit by Hurricane Irene

16 September 2011

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Foxwoods Resort Casino & MGM Grand at Foxwoods said today that its slot revenue in August was $52.2 million, down 11.8 percent from the same month a year ago.

Handle for the month was $632 million, off 12.4 percent from August 2010. Both figures represent the late month effects of Hurricane Irene and the ongoing impact of a weak economy.

“We had a strong August despite the revenue impact of Hurricane Irene,” said Foxwoods CEO Scott C. Butera. “We continue to execute a bottom-line focused strategy and again this month we
produced solid results. In addition, with an impressive line-up of entertainment attractions in September, business is off to a good start.”

Owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Foxwoods contributed $14.3 million to the State of Connecticut Special Revenue fund in August. The fiscal year total is $156.2 million and cumulative total rose to $3.24 billion
