Sloat wins Delaware Poker Championship V at Dover Downs

(PRESS RELEASE) -- After more than 17 hours of play, James Sloat, of Halethorpe, Md., was crowned the winner of Delaware Poker Championship V in the early hours of Sunday, Sept. 6 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s Crown Royal Poker Room.

The no-limit Texas hold’em tournament attracted 211 players, who each bought in for $560, and included a prize pool of $104,500. Sloat was awarded the winner’s prize of $18,948 and also received a large championship trophy, which featured an outline of the state of Delaware. The other nine players who reached the tournament’s final table received miniature versions of the championship trophy, along with cash prizes ranging from $3,271 to $14,000.

The Delaware Poker Championship was the centerpiece of a huge tournament weekend at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, where the events featured a total of $167,085 in prize money.

Among the winners and events were:

Oliver Carroll of Felton, Del., won the $5,000 guaranteed no-limit hold’em tournament on Monday, Sept. 7.

Tim Worley of Ridgely, Md., won the $15,000 guaranteed no-limit hold’em tournament on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Rich Santana of Virginia Beach, Va., won the $20,000 guaranteed no-limit hold’em tournament on Friday, Sept. 4.

Mike Zhang of Chesapeake, Va., won the $5,000 guaranteed pot-limit Omaha tournament on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Lashawn Casper of Norfolk, Va., won an Ante Up Poker Cruise.

Wayne Lehman of Dover, Del., and Debora Brooke of Rehoboth Beach, Del., won Ante Up Poker Set Sail packages.
