Singapore adds initiatives to help problem gamblers4 April 2012SINGAPORE -- Singapore's addiction service, which saw a 27 percent increase in cases last year, has launched two initiatives to help and support gambling addicts, Channel News Asia reported. The first initiative is an online interactive workbook to help gamblers to understand their behaviour and recognize they may have a problem, the report said. The second initiative is a support group for family members of gambling addicts who have not yet sought treatment, Channel News Asia said. The pilot program for family members aims to lessen the isolation of dealing with an addicted family member, the report noted. |
