Sin City mayor, FBI to team up for mob museum

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- As reported by the CBC News: "Sin City is moving ahead with plans for a museum dedicated to its mobster past — with the approval and assistance of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman is getting closer to opening the doors to his longtime pet project: a museum that examines the major role mobsters played in transforming the city from a dusty desert stop into a glamorous international gambling and entertainment destination.

"The FBI has come aboard to share the other side of the tale: the viewpoint of the authorities assigned to stamp out organized crime in Sin City.

"...Officials have so far raised about $15 million US for the new museum, out of an estimated $50 million US they believe it will ultimately cost to build. The facility's opening is tentatively being set for 2010..."
