Silver Slipper to Buy Mississippi Casino Barge24 February 2005BILOXI, Mississippi – As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "The developers of the Silver Slipper plan to buy the President Casino's gambling barge and keep employees on the job until the barge can be moved to Hancock County. "The soon-to-be owners of the President Casino Broadwater Resort are selling the barge because they plan to replace it with a bigger casino. EDSA, an urban planning and landscape architecture firm that did design work on the Atlantis development in the Bahamas and four Disney resorts in Florida, will devise a master plan for the 240-acre landmark property. "The new casino is likely to go on the north end of the marina closer to U.S. 90, said Roy Anderson, one of the partners in the new ownership group, Broadwater Development LLP. A casino operator has not been selected. "Silver Slipper can operate the President Casino at its current location in Biloxi until the end of the year. "…The Silver Slipper developers had originally planned to have a riverboat casino instead of a gambling barge in Hancock County. John Ferrucci, chief operating officer, said the barge will offer more gambling space. The developers now plan to add a four-story, 500-space parking garage to their plans…" |
