Shingle Springs motion denied

6 March 2007

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Lakes Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: LACO) announced that on March 2, 2007, the Court of Appeal of the State of California for the Third Appellate District denied the Motion filed by Voices for Rural Living ("VRL") against the California Department of Transportation ("CalTrans") to forbid construction from proceeding on the proposed interchange on Highway 50 in El Dorado County until VRL's appeal is resolved.

The interchange will provide direct access to Shingle Springs Rancheria, the reservation held in trust for the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and on which the Foothill Oaks casino will be built. "With the denial of this Motion, we are in a position to begin construction of the interchange and then the casino once we receive the permits from Caltrans," said Tim Cope, President and Chief Financial Officer of Lakes Entertainment, Inc.

Lakes has an approved management contract to manage the casino once it is constructed.

"We are pleased that the Court of Appeals denied the Motion which was done even before the Tribe and other parties had an opportunity to file their respective briefs in opposition to the stay request. This again just further underscores our belief that VRL's appeals are without merit."
