Sheriff Proposes Casino Cameras Cover Las Vegas Strip29 August 2006LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- As reported by the Associated Press: "Clark County Sheriff Bill Young is pushing for the gambling industry to install and manage an expanded surveillance camera system on the Las Vegas Strip that could film robberies, fights and other crimes and alert police immediately. "'For a very reasonable investment, I think we can provide a much more secure net to encompass the entire tourist corridor,' Young told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "Young estimated it would cost about $3 million to get the program involving about 120 surveillance cameras up and running, not including operational costs. "'The idea would be to expand on what they have now. None of the cameras would be on public property; they would all be on private property,' he said, adding, 'We'd all benefit from it.'
