Senate President Attacks Illinois Gaming Board

ILLINOIS – As reported by the Chicago Tribune: "Illinois Senate President Emil Jones (D-Chicago) on Friday called for a top-to-bottom makeover of the Illinois Gaming Board after its decision to exclude south suburban locations from the list of finalists for a new casino.

"'I believe we need a new gaming board,' Jones said. 'All the members should resign. What they have done here . . . is an insult to the people of Illinois.'

"This week, the board winnowed the list of bidders vying to buy the rights to the license of the bankrupt Emerald Casino to finalists proposing to build in Waukegan, Des Plaines and Rosemont.

"…Earlier this year, Jones threatened to reconstitute the board if it did not choose a needy community…"
