Seminole Ask for Meeting with Governor

FLORIDA – As reported by the Miami Herald: "The Seminole Tribe of Florida has asked for a meeting with Gov. Jeb Bush to discuss its plans to install Las Vegas-style slot machines at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood -- and to pitch a further expansion of gambling, including blackjack.

"Broward voters this month agreed to allow slot machines at the county's three race tracks and at Dania Jai-Alai. Miami-Dade voters nixed a similar measure.

"The Seminoles -- who already offer a version of Class 2 electronic slot machines at their casino -- expect to leverage the Broward vote to gain long-sought state approval for Class 3 slots.

"…Neither the governor nor a spokesperson could be reached for comment Tuesday evening…"
