Sedgwick officials support gambling coalition

KANSAS – As reported by the Wichita Eagle: "Sedgwick County commissioners say they would support a regional gambling coalition whose chief goal is to secure a casino in the area, as long as it's in keeping with the county's long-held position of having the Legislature approve expanded gambling before the county holds a public vote.

"Since Thursday, when Commissioners Gwen Welshimer and Kelly Parks joined with representatives from Harvey, Cowley, Sumner and Kingman counties, two other Sedgwick County commissioners said they will most likely support joining the South Central Coalition for Fair Play.

"Commissioners and staff from those five counties met Thursday in Wellington. The coalition wants to ensure that the area gets a casino if the Legislature decides to allow expanded gambling…"
