Sedgwick County reconsiders casino at Coliseum

KANSAS -- As reported by the Wichita Eagle: "Sedgwick County commissioners are rethinking turning the Kansas Coliseum into a destination casino, but aren't abandoning the idea just yet.

"A destination casino would not be the only possible use of the Coliseum, commissioners decided Tuesday, and they want to keep their options open for any other development ideas.

"The commissioners directed the county staff to withdraw a request for proposals, put out June 27, that restricted developers to submitting proposals to transform the Coliseum into a casino.

"...Sedgwick County voters will vote Aug. 7 on whether they want a casino in the county and slots at the Wichita Greyhound Park, which is next to the Kansas Coliseum..."
