Scottish Official Criticized for Lack of Support

GLASGOW, Scotland – As reported by the Scotsman: "Business leaders have condemned Jack McConnell's failure to back Glasgow's bid for the UK's first super-casino, claiming the Scottish Executive's lack of support is damaging the city's efforts to secure the deal.

"The criticism came after the First Minister declined to give a firm reply when questioned over the Executive's stance in relation to a large casino resort being built in Glasgow.

"…Already several major Las Vegas firms have put forward proposals for sites in the city, including a site at Rangers' ground Ibrox, which gained planning permission late last year.

"But Dr Lesley Sawers, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, warned that the Executive's ambivalence was damaging the campaign…"
