Scientific Games awarded German contract with Sachsen-Anhalt Lottery9 April 2008NEW YORK -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Scientific Games (Nasdaq: SGMS) announced that it has been awarded a contract with the Sachsen-Anhalt Lottery in Germany to supply instant tickets and cooperative services. The contract begins in July of 2008 and will run for three years, with options to extend for an additional two years. Scientific Games will handle the manufacturing and design of instant tickets, and revenues to Scientific Games will be based on a percentage of retail sales. Sachsen-Anhalt has a population of 2.5 million and approximately 670 retailers. "We are delighted to add Sachsen-Anhalt to our family of cooperative services customers in Germany," said Lorne Weil, Chairman and CEO of Scientific Games. "Instant tickets in Germany only accounted for 3% of a euro 8 billion lottery market in 2007. This is a sharp contrast to the UK, Italy and France, where Scientific Games is also the primary instant ticket supplier." "After seeing what Scientific Games has done both in Germany and other European countries, we are excited to give them the opportunity to help us to offer attractive games and good services to our customers and retailers in Sachsen-Anhalt," said Wolfgang Angenendt, Managing Director of Lotto-Toto GmbH Sachsen-Anhalt. "While there continue to be restraints in the current environment, we believe implementing some of Scientific Games' best practices now will give us a head start once the regulations are resolved." |
