Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort to host sixth annual Race for the Cure reception

16 August 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort will host the 6th Annual Race for the Cure Kickoff Reception on 21 August at 7 p.m. in the Scarlet Lounge, adjacent to the Waterfront Buffet.

The public is invited to attend. The Race for the Cure raises funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, whose mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. The Foundation uses locally raised funds for local work.

Margaret McKenzie, the 2019 Honorary Race Chair, and Pamela Killingsworth, the 2019 Survivor of the year, will be honored at the event. Breast Cancer affects 1 in 8 women, and the number of cases diagnosed is disproportionally high across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Gulf Coast Race for the Cure will be held 7 September at Jones Park in Gulfport.

Scarlet Pearl is hosting their 4th Annual Pink Pearls to Save the Girls Fashion Show on Saturday, 19 October at 8 p.m. in the Strand Event Center in efforts to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. They will recognize those who have survived breast cancer, those still facing it, as well as those who have lost their lives to it. Participants are encouraged to dress casually and wear a pink accent. 100% of proceeds are donated to Susan G. Komen.

If you wish to attend the 6th Annual Race for the Cure Kickoff on 21 August, please RSVP to Catherine Young at info@komencentralms.com or call (866) 447-6636.
