Saskatchewan casino construction ahead of schedule

26 February 2008

SASKATCHEWAN -- As reported by the Regina Leader-Post: "Construction on the Indian-owned and operated casino in Swift Current is two-weeks ahead of schedule and will likely open for business earlier than expected, said Nekaneet First Nation Chief Alice Pahtayken.

"Work on the $35-million Living Sky Casino and lounge began in June and was expected to open in December but Pahtayken said she anticipates it will be open sooner to take advantage of the pre-Christmas business.

"...The casino built on 10 acres owned by Nekaneet First Nation which is located just off the Trans-Canada Highway on the east side of Swift Current is in the process of being designated an urban reserve.

"...Future plans for the site include a hotel. The casino and lounge are expected to employ 200 full and part-time employees."
