Saratoga Gaming Donates $60,000

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Saratoga Gaming and Raceway proudly presented $60,000 in charitable donations to six local organizations at a press conference and check presentation on Friday, November 4. The receiving organizations included Saratoga Care Foundation, the YMCA of Saratoga, the Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council, Saratoga Center for the Family, Skidmore College Equestrian Program, and the Salvation Army. Each organization received $10,000.

"The community has been very supportive of our company, especially with all the changes in the past two years, and we wanted to give something back," said Daniel Gerrity, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway President. "Each organization has an immense effect on our community and we wanted to assist them with the tremendous work they do." Aside from these major gifts, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway has made additional contributions to over 100 different groups and organizations in 2005. "We believe that it is important to have a strong relationship with our community and we strive to support them whenever possible," Gerrity said.

The donations are earmarked for varying initiatives at each organization. As stated by Ms. Terry Lee, Executive Director at the Saratoga Care Foundation, "This $10,000 gift from Saratoga Gaming and Raceway will help Saratoga Hospital build our new Emergency Department. Out of all the services offered by our hospital the Emergency Department is the most critical for patients suffering from heart attacks, automobile accidents or any trauma that must be stabilized and treated immediately. This is a wise investment on the part of Saratoga Gaming and Raceway." The Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council (EOC) will use the funds to support the many programs that they offer to families in need of both financial and emotional assistance such as Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) that provide supplemental food and nutrition education for low-income expectant mothers and families. The Saratoga Center for the Family will also use the funds to support and expand their programs including Kids Groups that uses arts and crafts, creative writing, games, field trips, and discussion, to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which children can share their experiences, and develop self esteem, decision-making skills, and an accurate understanding of their family situation.

The donation made to the YMCA of Saratoga will go toward the organization's Capital Campaign for the construction of a new facility. Upon notification of Saratoga Gaming and Raceway's intended donation, Bill Moore, President of the YMCA of Saratoga & Chairman of the Executive Steering Committee said, "I would like to thank Saratoga Gaming and Raceway for their generous donation to the YMCA Capital Campaign. This donation is one of the many steps that we have, and will take with our friends, families and business's throughout our area. We look forward to the new building on West Avenue and a continued partnership with the local business's throughout the region. Saratoga Gaming and Raceway has shown that it wants to be involved in the community and supports local projects, which we thank them for." Keeping with the company's close ties to equestrian issues and organizations, the Skidmore College Equestrian Program was another recipient of a $10,000 donation. The group will use the funds to off-set the expenses of care and training for their more than 30 horses.

In response to the devastating effects of hurricane Katrina and the later Rita in the Gulf Coast, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway team members expressed interest in assisting with the relief efforts. In response to their interest, the Company established a fundraising drive to support the efforts of the Salvation Army. On September 8, 2005, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway kicked off a month-long Team Member Donation Drive where team members could make direct contributions or have them deducted from their paycheck. These contributions were then matched three-fold by the Company to total $10,000.
