Saratoga Casino Hotel schedules blood drive

9 January 2024

(PRESS RELEASE) -- On the heels of a recent emergency appeal from the American Red Cross for blood, Saratoga Casino Hotel has announced they will be hosting a Blood Drive on Monday, 15 January in the hotel ballroom from noon to 6pm. Members of the local community are urged to roll up a sleeve and give blood to help patients in need.

“Currently, the U.S. is facing the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years,” said Abigail Adams, Communications Director, American Red Cross. “The Red Cross blood supply has fallen to critically low levels in recent weeks across the country. With blood products currently going to hospitals faster than blood donations are coming in, the Red Cross has had to limit distributions of some of the most transfused blood types to hospitals in recent weeks.”

Schedule an appointment to give blood by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code SARATOACASINO, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.

“During a time when the need is so strong, we welcome the opportunity to host another blood drive,” said Alex Tucker, Chief Operating Officer at Saratoga Casino Hotel. “Not only do we see a tremendous amount of support from the community, we see a great deal of participation from our team members.”

January is National Blood Donor Month and has been observed since 1970 to recognize the importance of giving blood and platelets while also honoring those who donate. Thanks to the ongoing partnership between the American Red Cross and the NFL, all donors during the month of January will be entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
