Saratoga Casino and Raceway debuts new company-wide community initiative

5 April 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Saratoga Casino and Raceway has unveiled a new community focused, company-wide initiative. "Hands For Hope" will provide opportunities for team members to get involved with hands-on volunteer projects and community causes that are important to them in the communities where they live.

"Hands For Hope represents all the things we do in the community," said Tom Wiedmayer, general manager at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. "From support for the personal causes of our team members, to our annual charitable donations made to local organizations, to the thousands of hours volunteered by our team members in their communities, "Hands For Hope" brings these things together and represents our belief in the importance of supporting the communities where we live and work."

In 2015, Saratoga Casino and Raceway donated over $240,000 to charities across the Capital Region. More than $2.5 million in monetary, sponsorship and in-kind donations has been made by Saratoga Casino and Raceway since first opening in 2004.

"Hands For Hope" will allow for more employee involvement in ‘hands on' community projects. Events planned for the upcoming spring season include home improvement projects in conjunction with Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, beginning with a yard cleanup for Mary's Haven in Saratoga Springs on May 14.

"Rebuilding Together Saratoga County is thrilled to partner with Saratoga Casino and Raceway as they launch their Hands For Hope initiative," said Michelle Larkin, Executive Director at Rebuilding Together Saratoga County. "We're looking forward to partnering with them and their team members on upcoming projects throughout our community in the coming year."

Saratoga Casino and Raceway will also host major events for local organizations throughout the year. Two examples are the 12th Annual Lions Club Duathlon on May 29 and the 4th Annual Monday Night Mile on Aug. 15 which will raise funds for the Saratoga Springs History Museum.
