SA MPs Prepare for All-Night Pokie Debate

AUSTRALIA – As reported by ABC News: "Debate in South Australian Parliament on a bill to reduce the number of poker machines looks set to run into the early hours of tomorrow.

"The State Opposition is still debating clauses in the Gaming Machine Amendment Bill in the Lower House.

"Leader of government business in the Lower House, Pat Conlon, says the Opposition has done all it can to delay its progress.

```This is the first real proposal to do something about poker machines, to reduce them by 3,000,' Mr Conlon said.

```Now they may not like it but if they don't like it, vote against it, but don't simply try to tie up the Parliament in avoiding dealing with it at all.'

``…The Australian Hotels Association is hoping Parliament will amend the new legislation to make it fairer on country hotels.

``The Independent Gambling Authority has recommended the number of machines is capped at 10 per 1000 residents, in regional areas…"
