Ruling: No 'black box' at Casino du Liban

LEBANON -- As reported by the Lebonan Daily Star: "Acting State Prosecutor Rabia Qaddoura said Monday that there was no "black box" illegally siphoning public funds from the government at Casino du Liban, despite claims by several politicians and the media.

"In a statement, Qaddoura decided to stop taking the probe any further after it turned out that: "Investigations did not indicate the existence of a black box at the Casino, where funds taken from the revenues of the Casino are put at the disposal of official and unofficial figures."

"The judiciary began a probe upon the request of President Emile Lahoud after several politicians made public accusations about the existence of such a 'black box,' whose revenues would be used for political purposes..."
