Rosemont's Neighbors Want Casino Cash

ROSEMONT, Illinois – As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times: "Dozens of Cook County suburbs can't wait for the $18 million-plus they stand to get from a Rosemont casino after it opens, and they plan on sending that message today to critics of the project.

"Communities that signed a casino revenue-sharing agreement with Rosemont also plan to support Gov. Blagojevich's naming of former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder as a special investigator looking into the recent awarding of the casino license. Leaders of those towns will be holding a press conference this morning at the Rosemont Theater.

"…Members of the West Central Municipal Conference, which brokered the revenue-sharing deal between Rosemont and 71 Cook County communities in 1995, believe Holder will review the allegations and hopefully find Rosemont to be mob-free, said the group's executive director, Don Storino.

"…In a strange twist, communities that bid against Rosemont for the state's dormant, 10th gaming license and others that have talked of bringing gambling to town also stand to share the wealth…"
