Roman Abramovich wins libel payout over gambling claim

The damages stem from newspaper report in La Repubblica that said he had a gambling problem, according to the BBC.

The newspaper report suggested Mr Abramovich had lost his yacht in a poker match, was gambling online and other wholly untrue speculation.

The libel money will be donated by Mr Abramovich to charity, the BBC noted.
