Robinson Accused of Gambling Public Monies

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by ABC News: "ATSIC commissioner 'Sugar' Ray Robinson shouted drinks and gambled thousands of dollars of federal government money during a drinking session at a Brisbane hotel, a court was told today.

"Robinson is facing trial in the District Court on two charges of fraud that allegedly occurred in May 2002.

"He has pleaded not guilty.

"Today, the jury heard that Robinson, a then director of an Indigenous housing company, signed two company cheques worth almost $5,000 to pay for a drinking and gambling session at the Inala Hotel in Brisbane's south-west..."
