Robber Fires Shots Inside Casino

3 January 2005

Missoula, Montana -- As reported by the Missoulian: "An armed man in a ski mask robbed a downtown casino early Saturday morning but escaped with apparently nothing more than a bag filled with paper.

"Missoula Police Sgt. Chris Odlin said the man entered the Golden Rose Casino, 123 W. Broadway, at about 4:30 a.m., brandished a small handgun and demanded money.

"The robber was described as heavy set and about 5 feet 6 inches tall.

"...One witness to the robbery was Larry Lacock, a regular patron of the 24-hour casino. Four patrons were there playing the machines at the time of the robbery.

"A moment later the robber fired two quick shots at a video camera behind the bar. The gunshots sounded like "firecrackers," Lacock said.

"...Lacock then left the building by the back door and flagged down a police car, he said.

"...If anyone has any information about the casino robbery, call the Missoula Police Department at 523-4777 or Crimestoppers at 721-4444..."
