27 July 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The month of August marks the 10-year anniversary of Riverwind Casino, and facility officials are celebrating by hosting the season's final installment of the Beats & Bites festival.

The monthly food truck and music festival is scheduled for 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. The event is open to the public and will be held in the casino's west parking lot, located at 1544 State Highway 9 in Norman.

Jack Parkinson, Riverwind's general manager, said the July edition of Beats & Bites brought out an estimated 10,000 guests, a record attendance number for the event.

"The festival has proven to be a success for Riverwind," Parkinson said. "This is our way of saying thank you to the community for supporting us throughout our 10 years of business, and we look forward to many more years in Norman."

Local cover bands Time Machine and Replay are the scheduled entertainment for the upcoming Beats & Bites. Bands play on the main entertainment stage beginning at 6:30 p.m. Music ends at 11 p.m.

On Aug. 6, guests can purchase food and beverages from the following food trucks: Chef Ray's Street Eats; Dippin' Dots; Nacho Biznez; Phill Me Up Cheesesteaks; St. Paddy Cakes; The Candy Basket; Kona Ice; Klemm's Smoke Haus; A Latte Love Coffee House; The Flying Pig BBQ; Murphy's Smoke Shack; Epic Pops; Yum Yum Bites; Pinky's Rolling Fresh; Coit's Food Truck; I Don't Know and I Don't Care; Bacon N Cakin; Midway Deli; Dirck's Concession; and MMP Concessions.

Festivalgoers can also visit vendors offering local merchandise, body henna and face painting. There will be a bounce house area for children; the cost to enter the bounce house area is $5.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the event and can bring umbrellas for shade. Pets and outside food and beverages are prohibited.
