Riverwalk's “Bras for Breast Cancer” fundraiser a huge success

13 November 2012

VICKSBURG, Mississippi -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Bejeweled bras, Halloween bras, cowboy bras, Mardi Gras bras, birthday bras . . . bras, bras, bras! The 5th Annual “Bras for Breast Cancer” fundraiser took place on Thursday, November 1st and was a huge success, besting all previous years’ donations.

Riverwalk Casino and Hotel and Clear Channel Communications collected 16,144 bras from across the country! Having pledged to donate $1 to the American Cancer Society for every bra collected, Riverwalk presented the organization with a check totaling $21,144, which included a private contribution from a donor in Riverwalk Casino’s corporate office. The bras were strung across the Old Highway 80 Mississippi River Bridge, with a special section featuring creatively decorated bras.

“This year’s fundraiser beat all previous years, and we are so excited by the incredible amount of support, time and energy everyone put into this. Riverwalk has donated over $70,000 to the American Cancer Society since the launch of this event several years ago, and we appreciate so much the continued participation of our community and friends – seeing so many people work together to make a difference is just remarkable,” says Cheryl Duhon, Riverwalk’s marketing director.

Mississippi’s most exciting land-based casino destination, Riverwalk Casino and Hotel is located along the banks of the Mississippi River in historic Vicksburg and offers the best in gaming, delicious dining choices and beautiful hotel rooms, many with lovely views of the River. With over 27,000 square feet of gaming and dining space, Riverwalk is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year and employs over 400 people.
