Riverside casino awards grants

IOWA – As reported by the Iowa City Press-Citizen: "To celebrate the first round of grant awards funded by the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, the nonprofit organization that holds the gaming license will host an awards ceremony and dinner at the casino's Event Center.

"The Washington County Riverboat Foundation Inc. Board will award grants totaling $480,000 to 37 groups in the county, foundation chairman Tim Putney said.

"…The inaugural grant awards ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with a social hour, followed by a buffet dinner.

"…Awards range from a multi-year, $2 million gift to the Wellman Area Foundation for the new community center to $4,020 for recorded books for the Wellman Mid-Prairie High School library…"
