Rivers Casino to honor host communities16 October 2023(PRESS RELEASE) -- Rivers Casino and its operating parent company, Rush Street Gaming, are honoring their host communities in the best possible way — with a synchronized celebration of community engagement. On 17 October, more than 6,000 Team Members at Rivers Casino locations — in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Des Plaines, Ill. (Chicago area); Schenectady, N.Y.; and Portsmouth, Va.—will participate in “Rivers Gives Day of Service 2023.” This combined initiative is a first for the company’s long-standing localized “Rivers Gives” program. Through Rivers Gives, each Rivers Casino annually contributes approximately 2,000 volunteer hours per property to local nonprofit partners. In addition to volunteerism, Rivers Gives includes board service, donation drives, in-kind contributions and corporate giving. Rivers Gives will increasingly focus on three imperatives to enhance the quality of life for its regional casino communities: health and human services, workforce development and economic opportunity, and supporting U.S. military and veterans. In a coordinated effort designed to appreciate and uplift the cities that Rivers Casino respectively calls home, this week’s typical Tuesday workday will start differently. Team Members at each property, through voluntary sign-ups, will report to a local health and wellness nonprofit organization instead of to the gaming floor. Those casino volunteers will dedicate their time and energy to a wide array of assignments, from toy drops at local children’s hospitals to groundskeeping and cleanups at community health centers to assembling care packages for cancer patients and more. “Rivers Casino is committed to the health, well-being and economic vitality of the communities in which we operate and to those who have served our country,” said Tim Drehkoff, CEO of Rivers Casino and Rush Street Gaming. “By concentrating our efforts around these key areas, we expect to heighten our impact while continuing other community engagement initiatives throughout the year.” Across their operating markets, Rivers Casino and Rush Street Gaming annually contribute approximately $14 million to local nonprofit partners and various community groups. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh Partners with Mario Lemieux Foundation In Pittsburgh, Rivers Casino will collaborate with the Mario Lemieux Foundation for its Day of Service. Team Member groups will visit multiple Austin’s Playrooms throughout Allegheny County to deliver toys and supplies benefiting children of families facing health challenges. Austin’s Playrooms are part of the Mario Lemieux Foundation’s ongoing initiative to provide children with playful and engaging environments while their families concentrate on health and recovery. There are currently 43 Austin’s Playrooms throughout Western Pennsylvania. Throughout the Day of Service on Oct. 17, Team Members on-site at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh will participate in a variety of activities: Glimmer of Hope will be onsite to provide information about breast cancer screenings; the casino will partner with Vitalant in hosting a blood drive; plus, free biometric screenings will be offered courtesy of Allegheny Health Network. In addition to the in-kind contributions of our Team Members, Rivers Casino will make a financial contribution to the Mario Lemieux Foundation in the amount of $6,600 — honoring the hockey legend’s jersey number. Casino guests also can get in on the giving, thanks to a Rivers Gives collection box that will be prominently featured on the gaming floor. Rivers will pass along to the Mario Lemieux Foundation any chips, uncashed slot vouchers and currency contributed.
