Rivers Casino preps for holiday season at food bank25 October 2017(PRESS RELEASE) -- In preparation for the upcoming holiday season, the Rivers Casino Community Champions will volunteer with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on Friday, 27 October. In support of the food bank's effort to mobilize the community to eliminate hunger, the Community Champions will assist in organizing, sorting and packing food for those in need. "We're very thankful for the opportunity to work with the team at Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank," said Rahmon Hart, director of community relations for Rivers Casino. "At this time of year especially, we're happy to lend our services to this vital mission." Since 1980, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank has been a cornerstone in providing food assistance to Pittsburgh and its surrounding communities. With the help of a dedicated staff and engaged community members, the Food Bank has distributed more than 31 million meals annually across southwestern PA. "Annually, more than 4,000 volunteers donate more than 61,000 hours to end hunger," said Beth Burrell, communications and public relations manager for the Food Bank. "We are happy that the Rivers Casino Community Champions will join in these ranks and appreciate their contributions in preparation for the upcoming holiday season." Each month, as part of the Rivers Casino Community Champions program, Rivers Casino Team Members collaborate with local organizations throughout the region to volunteer and give back. In September, Rivers' Team Members donated their time and talents to support The Woodlands Foundation. |
