Rivers Casino Pittsburgh pays $4.2 million toward PPG Paints Arena2 October 2023(PRESS RELEASE) -- Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) announced today that Rivers Casino has now paid $109.2 million toward construction of PPG Paints Arena. Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA, with installments occurring in October and April each year. This week’s $4.2 million payment will be followed by a $3.3 million installment on April 1, 2024. By 2038, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million per agreement with the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010. Rivers Casino opened in August of 2009. “We’re always proud of the Pittsburgh Penguins and pleased to support their home ice,” said Bud Green, general manager at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “We thank the SEA for its partnership and look forward to another exciting season of hockey and other entertainment at PPG Paints Arena.” Rivers Casino generates approximately $160 million annually for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh, including the city’s economic development and tourism fund. “Rivers Casino continues to demonstrate a steadfast commitment to our community and to the citizens of Allegheny County,” said Aaron Waller, executive director of the Sports & Exhibition Authority. “We appreciate Rivers’ ongoing partnership and its support of PPG Paints Arena.” |
