Rivers Casino keeps spirit of giving all year long22 December 2015(PRESS RELEASE) -- As 2015 comes to a close, it's clear that the Team Members and guests at Rivers Casino have been celebrating the season of giving all year long. This past year, Rivers Casino contributed $276,686 in donations to local nonprofit organizations, charitable events and initiatives. The casino has various programs in place so that guests and Team Members can support causes to which they have a personal connection. The "Pittsburgh Proud" program allows guests to donate extra chips and slot vouchers to a designated charity, and Rivers' "$10 for $10" program turns a $10 cash donation into $10 in free slot play. Through the ongoing Rivers Casino "Community Champions" initiative, Team Members roll up their sleeves and participate in monthly service projects. Throughout 2015, the Community Champions cleaned Pittsburgh's riverfronts with Allegheny CleanWays and Friends of the Riverfront; answered phones for KDKA-AM's Warmathon; and spruced up neighborhood gardens with the Larimer Consensus Group and the Kingsley Association. More than 1,000 staff hours were donated in 2015. "Our Team Members and our guests are deeply committed to making the local community a better place to live, work and play," said Craig Clark, Rivers' general manager. "I'm so proud of the impact we've made this year, and I'm looking forward to supporting even more worthwhile organizations and causes in 2016." Throughout the year, Rivers Casino focuses its community engagement initiatives on four primary areas: public health, economic/community development, public service and adult education/workforce development. To help support these four areas, Rivers works with more than 100 Pittsburgh-based community partners, including the American Red Cross of Western PA, Operation Troop Appreciation, Special Olympics Pennsylvania and many more. Since its opening in 2009, Rivers Casino has generated more than $3.6 million in charitable giving. In addition, Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County to fund construction expenses for CONSOL Energy Center. To date, Rivers Casino has generated $48 million to support the arena that is home to world-class entertainment and the Pittsburgh Penguins. |
