Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady announces new amenity details

19 December 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady announced today new details about on-site amenities: Splash Spa at Rivers Casino and Van Slyck's entertainment lounge. Combined, they draw upon both the Capital Region's rich history and present talent within its business community, and promise to bring even more local flavor to the $330 million casino project, the first Las Vegas-style casino in the Capital Region.

Splash Spa at Rivers Casino, a full service spa located inside the resort, will offer visitors the utmost in comprehensive services designed to maximize comfort, relaxation and inner peace. The spa will be operated by Maria Ho, owner of the successful Splash Nail Spa in Niskayuna. A resident of the Capital Region for the past 11 years, Maria Ho brings an impressive level of expertise and a lifetime of passion for the beauty industry to Splash Spa at Rivers Casino, having grown up seeing her entrepreneurial parents develop a string of modern nail salons from New York to California.

"I take great personal and professional satisfaction in helping my clients find relaxation, balance and peace in their busy lives," said Maria Ho. "I look forward to offering a diverse selection of personalized services at Splash Spa at Rivers Casino, and I am honored to be a part of this transformative project."

Splash Spa at Rivers Casino will be located steps from the gaming floor, and will open along with the casino and other amenities on 8 February 2017. Splash Spa at Rivers Casino will offer a full suite of beauty and relaxation treatments, including but not limited to manicure, pedicure, massages, facials, blow out bar, scalp and body treatments and makeup.

Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady officials also revealed the concept for the casino's entertainment lounge. Van Slyck's will be the region's premiere location to enjoy live music and televised sporting events. The lounge will feature its own gaming positions, as well as space to host small bands, DJs and other live entertainment. Guests will enjoy a range of specialty cocktails and craft beers.

Guests won't have to leave the action of the gaming floor behind when visiting Van Slyck's. The lounge will feature 34 slot machines and a number of table games, including craps, roulette, blackjack and more.

The lounge, which will be adjacent to the gaming floor, is named after the Van Slyck family, who played an instrumental role in the settlement of Schenectady in the 1600s.

"It has always been our goal to pay homage to Schenectady's incredibly rich history as we look to the future. That is why we chose to name our entertainment lounge after one of the first settlers of the area, the Van Slyck family," said Mary Cheeks, General Manager of the Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady. "Van Slyck's will be a great addition to the excitement of Rivers Casino, and round out the guest experience offered by the gaming floor and our other amenities."

Rivers Casino & Resort will also offer guests a range of dining options. Dukes Chophouse was designed from the ground up to offer guests a fun and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a superior dining experience. Mian will offer a contemporary take on an array of Asian cuisine favorites. FLIPT will serve up specialty burgers and sandwiches, hot dogs, sides, salads and more, 24/7. Johnny's To Go will carry a selection of favorites from the popular downtown Schenectady Italian restaurant. And Villa Italia will offer a selection of favorite pastries and cookies, served alongside unmistakable Villa Italia coffee, around the clock.
