Rio Books Rod Stewart for Millennium Show

The Rio Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas will welcome the millennium with the sounds of legendary rock star Rod Stewart.

The once-in-a-lifetime New Year's Eve millennium performance, to take place at the resorts all-new Pavilion, will be witnessed by an intimate crowd of 7,500 fans (as opposed to his standard concert before a crowd of 20,000 plus. Long recognized as one of the music industry's most energetic and charismatic live performers, Stewart, backed by three singers and his ten-piece band, will perform classic songs spanning his three decade-plus career.

The event will be available to Rio guests during the Millennium weekend, with packages featuring three nights of Rio accommodations and sharing a midnight toast with Stewart.

Stewart spent the early part of his career as front man for a variety of bands including the famed Jeff Beck Group, where Stewart met guitarist Ron Wood. Shortly thereafter, he and Wood formed the band Faces, whose hits included "Stay With Me" and "Losing You." Two years later, Stewart went out on his own with his first solo album, the landmark "Every Picture Tells a Story." Throughout the 70's, 80's, and 90's, his string of hit albums continued yielding such songs as "Maggie May," "Tonight's the Night," "Mandolin Wind," "You're in My Heart," "Hot Legs," "Some Guys Have all the Luck," "Rhythm of My Heart," "Motown Song," "Downtown Train," and "Have I Told You Lately," "People Get Ready" and more. To date, he has had more than fifty hit singles and has sold in excess of one hundred million records.
