Rhode Island to Decide on Casino Ballot

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – As reported by the Providence Journal: "Placing a casino question on the November ballot, passing the state's $5.9-billion budget and confirming a new justice to the state's highest court are among the agenda items for today's special General Assembly session.

"…The House is expected to override Carcieri's veto of a bill asking voters in November if they want a West Warwick casino, run by Harrah's Entertainment with the Narragansett Indian tribe getting a share of the profits. The Senate overrode the veto last week.

"House Majority Leader Gordon D. Fox said yesterday that he is confident there are enough votes to override the veto…"
