Retired greyhounds need new homes17 August 2009LONDON, England -- As reported by the BBC: "Dozens of greyhounds remain homeless one year after a famous east London dog track closed. "Walthamstow Stadium was sold by its former owners, who blamed poor attendances and internet gambling for making the site unsustainable. "Since then, more than 40 dogs who competed at the venue have been cared for at Whittingham Kennels, near Waltham Abbey, Essex. "Staff said new owners would need to be patient and loving. "They said the dogs did not require much exercise and were gentle. "'The dogs make great family pets as they are very gentle and love children' (said Louise Clark, from the kennels)..." |
