Responsible gambling resource centre hours reduced

ONTARIO -- As reported by the Windsor Star: "Reducing operating hours and staffing levels at the responsible gambling resource centre at Caesars Windsor will actually provide better service to casino patrons seeking help managing their gambling habits, the chief executive officer of the Responsible Gambling Council says.

"'We have reduced the hours, but by now focusing on attendance peaks and valleys at the casino, we believe we will be able to help more patrons,' said Jon Kelly, whose organization developed and manages the centre on behalf of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission.

"...But the decision to cut back on the office's hours was criticized Friday by Joan Charuk, an occasional casino patron who has a friend who works for the program.

"...A two-year pilot program was introduced in Windsor and Niagara Falls . Seven full-time staff provided help seven days a week, 24 hours a day in Windsor, according to the RGC, with similar staffing levels at the Fallsview Casino..."
