Resorts World Catskills to open in time for Lunar New Year18 January 2018(PRESS RELEASE) -- Resorts World Catskills announced today that the new luxury casino resort will open at its new official address, 888 Resorts World Drive, Monticello, New York, 12701, in time to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Recognizing that "888" is a numeric set in Chinese numerology signifying good luck, the casino resort selected the address to signify the resort's anticipated good luck of its future patrons. The three eights have been regarded as a symbol of good fortune and prosperity for several thousand years. The root of this mystic belief comes from Chinese culture, in which words sounding the same as numbers bear the meaning of the word. Resorts World Catskills will also celebrate the Asian heritage by accelerating the opening of the new luxury resort casino property from 1 March to 8 February in time for the Lunar New Year celebration. "The Lunar New Year offers the perfect opportunity to showcase all of our amenities and services that provide an authentic Asian cultural and gaming experience. Features of the property include a 100,000 square feet gaming floor, with 30% of the floor focused on Asian-centric table games, including Baccarat and Pai Gow tiles and Pai Gow poker. Plans for Resorts World Catskills' inaugural Lunar New Year celebration are already underway. The luxury casino resort will mark the 15-day celebration with a series of festivities and events, including red envelope surprises and a traditional dragon dance to welcome the Year of the Dog. The celebration will be a bright and engaging presentation that is in line with Asian customs and fits the narrative of celebrating the New Year. The Lunar New Year begins on 16 February. Details regarding Resorts World Catskills' celebration, which will include a traditional dragon dance, will be announced at a later time. The traditions of the dragon dance have had a long history in China, believed to bring luck, prosperity, ward off devils and spirits, and bring peace and good harvests to the people. Chinese dragons symbolize wisdom, power and wealth.
