Resignation of Head of Problem Gambling Group Sought2 February 2005Las Vegas Sun ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico -- The head of an antigambling group wants the director of the New Mexico Council on Problem Gambling to quit, saying she has ties to the gambling industry. Guy Clark, who heads the New Mexico Coalition Against Gambling, also questioned Kandace Blanchard's $125,000 annual salary. "This seems to be an organization that at this point benefits the administrators a whole lot more than it does problem gamblers," he said Monday. The state's horse race tracks set aside money to help problem gamblers and decide how the money is doled out. Blanchard's husband, Paul Blanchard, is part owner of two of the tracks.
