Reps offer opinions on Massachusetts proposal19 November 2007MASSACHUSETTS -- As reported by the South Coast Today: "If the local delegation provides any insight into the upcoming battle over Gov. Deval Patrick's proposal to license three resort casinos in Massachusetts, it's going to be a wild ride. "While only one of SouthCoast's 11 legislators is an outright opponent of expanded gaming, enough of the others have significant doubts and questions to make approval of the governor's plan far from certain. "House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi, himself a longtime gambling opponent, has said the issue will not come up for debate in the Legislature until next year. That gives Gov. Patrick plenty of time, which he apparently is going to need, to address the concerns of local legislators..." |
