Report: Chances Low for Gettysburg Casino

GETTYSBURG, Pennsylvania -- A casino near Gettysburg would be "an absolute shocker," according to a firm that analyzes gaming ventures for investors.

"A 13-page report produced this month by Brian McGill of Susquehanna Financial Group set the odds for a license going to the Crossroads Gaming Resort and Spa at 99 to 1.

"The report says Bethlehem is a heavy favorite for one of two standalone licenses; Allentown is a dark horse, and Gettysburg is a long shot that's getting longer.

"…The report states its conclusions were based on locations, details of each bid, demographics of each area and the potential market of each of the proposed locations.

"According to the report, Las Vegas Sands is a 3-2 favorite with its plans for south Bethlehem; a proposal for Paradise Township in Monroe County is at 3-to-2; and a proposal to build a casino in east Allentown is at 7-1 odds. A proposal for Tunkhannock Township in Monroe County is also at 7-to-1.

"Gettysburg had the worst odds by far. The next closest was the Limerick, Montgomery County plan, at 10-to-1…"
