Report: Australians Spending More on Gambling

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "The amount of money spent on gambling continues to grow, with new figures showing it now accounts for 40 per cent of turnover in the nation's pubs and clubs.

"The Bureau of Statistics (ABS) says that money spent on gambling increased by 4.5 per cent in the December quarter, after increases of more than 5 per cent in recent quarters.

"Paul Sullivan from the ABS says gambling accounts for 1.8 per cent of total retail turnover in Victoria, but the figure is much bigger in some other states…"
