Reno Hotel Files for Bankruptcy, Closes20 November 2000RENO, Nevada â Nov. 20, 2000 â As reported by the Associated Press: ``The earlier-than-expected closure of downtown Reno's Comstock Hotel-Casino is drawing a mixed reaction from employees. ``The casino closed its doors for good Friday, only four days after announcing that it wouldn't close until 60 days. ``Comstock officials said they were unable to operate after losing about a quarter of the workforce following the initial Nov. 13 closure announcement. They also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week. ``âĤA Miami investment group has agreed to purchase the 308-room property for $6 million and turn it into an apartment building and condominium complex. â |
